Hi everyone,
My name is Calum and I play wheelchair rugby league for Edinburgh Giants and Scotland, where I’m proud to serve as co-captain for both my club and the national team. Over the past few years the sport has become a huge part of my life, and I’ve been lucky enough to compete at a high level with an amazing group of teammates.
Wheelchair rugby league is a fast and physical sport, and the chair is the most important piece of equipment for every player. Each chair is custom-built to the athlete’s size and playing style, allowing them to move, turn and compete safely at speed.
As I continue to compete and push my level in the sport, I’m now looking to replace my current chair with a new custom-built wheelchair rugby chair designed specifically for my measurements and playing style.
This year is particularly exciting as the Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup takes place in Australia, and my goal is to keep improving and give myself the best possible chance to compete and perform at the highest level.
High-performance wheelchair rugby chairs are extremely specialised pieces of equipment and can cost up to £6000 depending on the custom build and specifications. Because of this, I’ve set up this fundraiser to help contribute towards the cost of a new chair.
Any support, whether that’s donating or simply sharing the page, would mean a lot and would directly help me continue competing in the sport I love.
If the fundraising exceeds the amount needed for the chair, any additional funds will be donated back into Edinburgh Giants Wheelchair Rugby League to help support the continued growth of the sport.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for supporting wheelchair rugby league.
Calum
