-- BIRTHDAY UPDATE --
Hello dear lovely family!! My Washington Trip is in its final month and I have had an absolute blast. I just turned 20, and have been reflecting on how incredibly fortunate I was to have such a strong support system after my accident. These are trying times as I am sure you all know. If any of you have some coin left in your pocket that is weighing you down, I would say my birthday wish is that you donate some of it to Ukrainian aid. There are many GoFundMe's on this site, started by families trying to stay afloat in a war-torn country. I highly implore you all to take some time and find someone, or some nonprofit that is working towards sending aid. If you are interested in contributing to a combat medic training fund, I have supplied the link. Here is a link to a medical aid fund which also supports civilians. Thank you all for the love and support! This internship program was made accessible to me by your generosity.

Thank you all so much for the support!! My heart is overwhelmed with all kindness from friends and family. My cast is on and I am gearing up for the trip to DC. I will keep you all updated with my trip to come
-- END UPDATE --
Hello friends and family! BIG NEWS! I was selected for the UC-DC Program, which sends select students from the UC system to our nation's capital for one quarter of our academic year. I have secured an internship with the National Women's Political Caucus, a multi-partisan grassroots organization dedicated to increasing women’s participation in the political process. I will be doing direct campaign and candidate research to get women into political office.
I leave for DC in mid-June and come back to California in late August. I am leaving two days after my finals season and expect it to be a total whirlwind! On May 16th, I was in a bad bike crash and broke my wrist. I am incredibly lucky because the CT scan turned up no head injuries! My wrist fracture should be healed part-way through my trip to Washington. I am still very excited to go!
You can be part of my adventure! My wonderful internship is, unfortunately, unpaid and DC is expensive. Still, the experience is exciting. (Most people get accepted as juniors; I’m still a sophomore!) I am going to gain valuable experience, further the cause of representation, and help move the country towards gender equality!
Your donations will go towards very practical things such as meals and groceries, walking shoes for getting around town, cabs and ride shares, and medical bills, all of which will help me help all of us get more women into political office. (Did you know that women make up just 26.9% of Congressional representatives?)
I really appreciate your support. Thank you so much!
