About 3 years ago now, I was diagnosed with an eye disease called, Stargardts. It is a rare, inherited juvenile macular degeneration that causes progressive, often severe loss of central vision.
I have been coping and living with this diagnosis, relatively well, as it is not something that causes pain or discomfort.
There is no cure, no ‘fixing’ it, no treatment that will help me, slow it down, or reverse my loss of vision.
However, after recently seeing a specialist
I still have enough vision that ‘bioptic glasses’ will help me significantly in my day to day life. As well as general tasks like, being able to see signs in the grocery store, being able to see familiar faces across the room, or being able to read a menu on my own and not have it read to me, these glasses would help me watch Nova in school performances, see her beautiful face from farther than and arms length away, and continue my art hobbies.
Problem is, these glasses are extremely expensive. Many of you know, I am currently a stay at home mom. While I do have some money saved to pay my share of the bills, this is not an expense I can take on myself.
if you know me, you know I never ask for help, so this is incredibly hard for me.
Thank you, to anyone who reads this, shares this, or donates.
I love you
