Recently, my small village in Vietnam, home to about 150 households, experienced the worst flood in the country’s history. The water rose above the roofs of many houses, forcing people to take shelter on top of their homes in the rain and cold for two days straight. During this time, they lost nearly everything—homes were damaged, all belongings and food were swept away, and most of the animals could not escape the rising water. The devastation was overwhelming, and some families even lost loved ones who could not survive the harsh conditions of water, cold, and hunger.

Now that the water has gone down, the challenges remain. The rain continues, and there is no food because the rice and supplies have been destroyed. Clean water is unavailable, making daily life even more difficult. With no electricity or phone signal, my village is isolated and waiting for help from the outside. The community is in urgent need of support to recover and rebuild their lives.
