Dear village,

As you know, Venezuela has been under horrid political turmoil for over 20 years. Many of my friends and family have fled and now Venezuelans are spread all around the globe. For us Venezuelans, it has been a real hardship not only to leave family behind but also to not be able to return to our homeland to visit with loved ones.

I recently learned that my dear childhood friend, Yureibys, made the arduous trek through Central America to reach the Mexico border to try to cross into the US in search of a better future for herself and her family. She has been stuck in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico for several months however with your help, she could reach San Francisco.

Yureibys and I used to go to the beach A LOT in our teens, here's a picture of her around age 15.

Through the new immigration program, I have applied to be her supporter and help her get settled here legally. She will be able to get a SSN and work permit once she arrives.

How you can help: Once here, Yureibys will need finances and items to help her get settled. Money for transport, phone, furniture and general needs. She may also need clothing and personal items.

Any financial donation helps however if finances aren't possible, there may be other ways you can help, we need:

Bedding (sheets, blanket, duvet)

Clothing and toiletries

Anything helps.
