Hello Everyone!
My name is Scarlett and I am creating this funding for a student of mine that was tragically affected by her landlord's unjust decision to remove all her and her children's belongings without notice or any legal notice from the court.
On Sunday, June 14th, 2020, My Thao was returning to her old rental duplex to pack the rest of her belongings, as they were moving to a new home. Her landlord and her agreed that she had time on Sunday to pack her items and fully move out, but she ended up returning to an empty home with all her belongings scattered in her front lawn. A few of the smaller items were left behind, but all the important and expensive items were stolen or taken by the landlord and anyone else passing by in the neighborhood. According to witnesses (neighbors in the area), they saw the landlord come to the property early morning on Saturday and removed all her personal items to the front lawn and allowed people to come grab it. Witnesses also saw the landlord take some of her items too. In all of this, My lost over $20,000 worth of belongings from clothes, TV, kitchen appliances, kitchenware, bathroom items, home decor, personal items, hygiene care, beds, sofa, large furniture, diapers for her young children, savings money in cash, sentimental gifts from friends and families over the years, laptops for her children's distance learning, and so much more!
As of right now, the landlord isn't taking any responsibility. My and her children are safe at their new home, but with no belongings except for whatever few clothes they were able to scavenge from what was left over on their lawn.
My is an incredible mother of 8 children. She works incredibly hard to give her children the life they deserve and did not deserve this treatment and losing everything they've worked so hard for. Not only were her belongings taken, but her children are also suffering from this huge loss. The total donation amount of $5,000 we are asking is enough to just get My and her family back on their feet. We know this will not cover for all the items they've lost, but it will be a start for them. She won't be able to recover everything and this will take a long time for her children and her to recover from, but any amount of donation will help!
For those who want to donate items, we will not be taking anymore item donations. My has graciously received many donated household items that will help her family get by for now.
Thank you in advance for all your help!
