Hi, my name is KATHLEEN and I am fundraising to help support my TACE treatment and further research into natural supports to conventional therapy.

About me

I am 51 years old – a wife, mother and daughter – and my story begins when I was 35…

I discovered an egg-shaped lump in my groin and of course feared the worst… And after the necessary scans and tests it was revealed that I had MyxoidLiposarcoma.

I was initially treated with 5 weeks of radiotherapy to shrink the tumour in preparation for surgery - which was successful – but unfortunately the operation left me with permanent mobility complications. After 10 years I was given the long awaited ‘all clear’… but unfortunately, 16 years later in Jan 2021, Sarcoma Mets were discovered in my liver. I was told it was just bad luck!

Following this shocking diagnosis, I proceeded to complete three rounds of chemotherapy – Doxorubicin -but was too ill to complete the full six rounds as I had been hospitalised twice, both times with neutropenic sepsis. I then started working on my own naturopathic protocol which involved supplements, change of diet and lifestyle. And months later when the scans started to show stability, my oncologist said we were now entering ‘Unchartered Territory’ as this had rarely been seen before.

This continued to be the case, and after 2 years the tumours were nearly inactive (5% glucose take-up), but then, in May 2023 the liver mets showed growth and I was also diagnosed with rectal adenocarcinoma…

The Challenge

Dealing with 2 cancers proved difficult from an oncology point of view. Each doctor – specialists in their own field – wanted to treat their own cancer type which would then leave the other untreated, and very rarely did the right-hand talk to the left-hand which was not a good situation to be in.

I discovered Professor Vogl in Frankfurt and decided to try TACE (Trans arterial Chemoembolisation) - a treatment that uses anti-cancer (cytotoxic) drugs to destroy cancer cells. Chemoembolisation is a targeted chemotherapy treatment directed into the blood vessels that feed the tumour.

The decision to have TACE on the liver mets was to stabilise them so the bowel could be treated, but unfortunately the rectal tumour during this time grew and spread to the lymph nodes and blood vessels.

In March 2024, I stopped treatment on the liver temporarily to start treatment on the bowel.

I had an emergency colostomy and have completed a short course of radiotherapy both of which I am still recovering from. But with the help of my protocol and nutrition I am healing well.

I have completed 5 years of a 6-year Nutritional Therapy degree which I would love to complete but have been forced to put on hold due to health and related financial complications. Having this knowledge has given me the drive to fight this terrible disease, and seeing I was given only 19 months from diagnosis and am still here 3 years later (and in relatively good health), I’d say it’s played a huge part in prolonging my life. I have gained so much knowledge and resources to help fight cancer naturally, and I have also gained a wide base of worldwide friendship and help.

The Struggle

I have started this fundraising page so it will enable me to continue my research for alternative treatments and to continue the TACE treatment to the liver, which is carried out each month and costs an average of £4.5kper time. On top of this, I am also being treated with High Dose Vitamin C and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), and this has a monthly cost of over £2.5K. We have pulled down on every financial resource available to us, but unfortunately the pot is not bottomless, and we have reached an end.

Unfortunately, people are being diagnosed with more than one Cancer these days, and I firmly believe that we can help ourselves so much with nutrition and supplement protocols. One day I hope that conventional oncologists will start to believe in this medical approach and will be able to combine it with the standard approach.
