My name is Emma Masterson, and I’m currently a student at the University of North Texas, majoring in Communication with a minor in Marketing. I’ve always been fascinated by the universal human experience of creating, developing, and maintaining relationships—whether they’re familial, friendships, romantic, or professional. It’s something that connects all of us, no matter where we’re from or what we do.

Through my studies, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to explore how sociology intersects with the business world. From diving deep into rhetoric and analysis to understanding the nuances of human connection, I’ve gained tools that I hope to use in my future career to make meaningful contributions to communication and marketing.

Recently, I was offered an extraordinary opportunity to take my learning beyond the classroom and travel to Kyoto, Japan, for a two-week program. This educational experience will focus on international communication and how businesses operate in different cultural contexts. I’ll also be traveling with one of my favorite professors, who has extensive experience in debates and communication events internationally—so I know I’ll be in great hands.

While I’ve been fortunate to receive scholarships to support this journey, the overall costs are still significant. Unfortunately, I am not in a financial position to cover these fees on my own. That’s why I’m hoping for your help.
