My name is Rev. Dr. Sonja Elise Freeman, also known as "Queen Diva." I am the star/producer of the acclaimed Hyman Family approved; New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, New Jersey Assemblyman Donald A. Guardian, former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and First Lady Chirlane McCray supported an off-Broadway production called "Strength of a Woman: A Phyllis Hyman Tribute Starring Queen Diva." I am happy to share that I have successfully produced this production since 2013 to sold-out audiences in both New York City and Texas.
I am the VP/Artist-in-Residence Black music preservationist at the Rhythm & Blues Preservation Society, a nonprofit music organization with a mission to preserve Black music culture one record at a time in Atlantic City, NJ, and I am very excited to share they are partnering with me to help with my fundraising efforts.
I began studying toward my PhD in Education (Curriculum & Teaching) at National University online program in July 2024 with a passion for sharing my enthusiasm for Black music preservation academically to help bring awareness to Americans the need to purposefully preserve Black music culture by spearheading ways to encourage inclusion of African American Music History in American Music History within colleges and universities.
While writing my dissertation,
I would love to record a Phyllis Hyman Tribute album and documentary. I am asking for your support in reaching my goal of $100,000 to cover the costs of recording, mixing, mastering, rehearsals, and editing of both the album and documentary to complete it by Phyllis Hyman's 80th birthday on July 6, 2029. I would like to submit this documentary to the Sundance Film Festival
