My 18-year-old son, a dedicated student-athlete on a full basketball scholarship at Benedictine University in Mesa and a proud Seton Catholic graduate, recently suffered a traumatic facial injury during a basketball game. He face-planted directly onto the court, resulting in multiple fractures, a broken nose, a split lip, and swelling so severe his eyes were swollen shut. The pain and shock of seeing him go through this has been heartbreaking for our family.
He has already received emergency care, including imaging, stitches, and ongoing evaluations. Now, he faces two separate surgeries, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, to repair the internal fractures and reconstruct his nose. Because these surgeries fall across December and January, our insurance deductible resets, meaning we have to pay it twice, along with significant out-of-pocket costs for imaging, aftercare, and follow-up appointments. The financial strain on top of the medical urgency is overwhelming.
We are reaching out to our community, including friends from Benedictine University and Seton Catholic, for help. Any donation, share, prayer, or message of support will make a difference as we work to get him through these surgeries safely. Thank you for helping my son heal and for standing by us during this challenging time.
