My name is Lakita & a mother to two young children. As you can imagine, I never imagined that I'd be in this position of fighting cancer almost two months of losing my mother. On October 1st, I was diagnosed with colorectal adenoncarcinoma cancer. Since my diagnosis, I've had countless amount of doctor's appointments which has required me to travel back & to Tuscaloosa & Birmingham undergoing many test & countless co-pays.

I am currently undergoing cancer treatment, including chemotherapy, which has taken a physical, emotional, and financial toll. While I’m doing everything I can to stay strong and focused on healing, the cost of treatment, medications, transportation, and everyday living expenses has become overwhelming.

Chemo has brought fatigue, nausea, and other side effects that make working very difficult. Due to me not being able to have exposure to many people, I've been off work, from a job that I absolutely LOVE, since November 14th. Despite this, I am fighting with everything in me and holding onto faith and hope each day.
