Late Monday evening, my sister and brother-in-law’s lives changed in an instant. Their newly built home in Fort Wayne was destroyed by an explosion that happened while my brother-in-law was trying to repair a gas leak on his Harley in the garage. By a miracle, my sister was out of town visiting family for Thanksgiving, but my brother-in-law suffered third degree burns and is now recovering. Another family member remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

The explosion left their home unlivable and condemned, and they lost everything—including access to their vehicles, as even the key fobs were destroyed. With the holidays approaching, the emotional, mental, and financial toll is overwhelming. While insurance may eventually help, they need immediate support for temporary housing, clothing, meals, and essentials. Even something as simple as a new key fob is a major hurdle right now.
