I'm an active 71 year old who was on a motorcycle ride with friends when I hit deep silt, causing my bike to swerve into an embankment. The accident resulted in a broken left fibula, and I was airlifted 40 miles to the nearest hospital where it was determined that I needed surgery. While insurance will cover the majority of my medical expenses, the recovery process means I won't be able to work for the next two to three months. This has left me worried about how I'll manage to pay for utilities, put food on the table, and cover other essential costs during this time. Without a car or truck, I'll also be relying on Uber to get to medical appointments, buy groceries, and run necessary errands.
Any support I receive will go directly toward covering my rent, utilities, existing bills, transportation to and from physical therapy sessions, and any medical co-pays or out-of-coverage expenses that may arise. I've always prided myself on my independence and my willingness to help others in need. For 27 years, I've worked in the health industry treating people with soft tissue injuries, helping them regain strength and reduce pain. Being in a position where I need to ask for help is humbling, but I know that sometimes we all need a little support to get through tough times. Being where I am today, injured and in need of aid, has helped me to recognize the importance of always making myself available to others in their time of need. With your help and support, I will be able to return to giving to others. Any help you can offer—whether it's a donation or simply sharing my story—would mean the world to me. Thank you for your kindness and support as I work toward recovery and getting back on my feet.
