On December 11th, I was helping a friend escape a domestic violence situation when I was mauled by one of the abuser's dogs. I had to be rushed to the hospital by ambulance and sedated due to the severity of my injuries. I lost about half a liter of blood during the attack, which was very serious with my chronic illness. Upon consciousness, I was informed that I nearly needed a blood transfusion and received 40 stitches throughout my body. At least 25 of them are in my left forearm, which had an exposed tendon and open fracture. I was admitted to the hospital for multiple days. Most of the damage sustained by the attack is in my arms, greatly affecting the function of my hands. My injuries are preventing me from working, driving, or performing daily tasks. The doctors have informed me I’ll need a home healthcare nurse, a hand plastic surgeon, and possibly a physical therapist as well. They cannot provide a timeline for when I will be cleared to return to work. I have a long road of recovery ahead of me.
I really need the help to take care of my bills, get transportation to my follow-up appointments, and care for my two dogs, Scotch and Chunk.
I'll adjust the goal once I get more information on what I'll need to recover.
I know it’s Christmas and it’s a crappy time to need the help, but anything will be greatly appreciated right now. Please give what you can and share.
