About 9 years ago I learned that I have a rare medical condition where my body produces insulin non-stop. Despite working with healthcare specialists and trying various medications, nothing has truly helped. My body is constantly fighting itself, storing everything I eat instead of using it as if I’m always in starvation mode—even when I’m not. This has made it incredibly difficult to manage my weight and has kept me from living the life I’ve always wanted. Even with countless diets and exercise, any change to my weight was minimal or non existent, which often left me feeling discouraged and like I was failing regardless of my efforts.
Recently, my doctor said he wanted to help me fight for a surgery that could finally change everything. I was told from the beginning that I probably wouldn’t get approved for a consultation, much less the surgery itself, but my doctor didn’t give up. Against the odds, I was approved for the consult, and when I met with my surgeon, he told me I was an extremely rare case. He went before the board of medical directors and pleaded my case—and thanks to the favor of God, I was approved for the surgery!
I thought things would get easier after that, but I soon learned there are many appointments leading up to the surgery and then the surgery itself. I found out that my insurance is covering very little and that if I wanted to do this I was going to have to pay more out of pocket than I ever expected. I’ve never done anything like this before, but if you can and are willing to help, you would have my deepest gratitude. If my life has somehow impacted yours in any way, I ask that you would sow into this and help me move forward with my life in a new way. Even if you can’t give financially just sharing my story will help and would be appreciated, and prayers are also very welcome as I continue this journey. Whether you give or not, I pray that God’s goodness and mercy fill your life. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
