Last fall, I started the first semester of my Masters of Science in Prosthetics and Orthotics at Kennesaw State University. During orientation, I talked to one of the older students who had just gotten home from Ecuador where she was working with the Range of Motion Project (ROMP) to provide prosthetic care to individuals who wouldn't have otherwise had access. After this conversation, I knew this was something I'd want to do.
Now, after completing my first year, I have the opportunity to go to Guatemala with ROMP for 10 days in July to help fabricate and deliver prosthetic devices for people with limb loss. I'm confident that this will be a huge learning experience for me as I'm fully immersed in the field with the opportunity to reinforce my skills, but what I'm most excited about and expectant for is the opportunity to be part of such a huge life change for this underserved population. The field of prosthetics is so dear to my heart and it's truly such a blessing to be able to help restore mobility, independence, and confidence for our patients.
For this trip, I am responsible for the $1,800 program fee along with airfare. The program fee helps provide prosthetic componentry and clinical services. If you feel led to give, I would be so grateful to have you be part of this journey. I would also greatly appreciate your prayers over this trip and the patients we'll be serving.
Thank you so much for being here and supporting me! It means the world to me and I am incredibly thankful for this opportunity. I can't wait to update you all along the way!
