Hello! I am a 9th grade student at Loganville Christian Academy. My mother needs a hysterectomy and a bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. This is the removal of the uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes. She has multiple fibromas, and the amount of them could be larger than anticipated, because some may have not been caught on the scan. She may have to pay anywhere between $5,000-$18,000 for the anesthesia (as it is not covered by the charity).
Recently, I applied and was accepted into a summer pre-medical program at Harvard University. The program is $1,800 without financial aid. They only gave $300 of aid. The entire cost of the program, surgery, plus costs of housing near the university, transportation, and food, could be around $9,000. Harvard is my dream school and I’d love to attend this program—but my mother’s health comes before my needs. Please, help me on this if you can.
