Support my post-grad journey

Hi everyone, my name is Evelyn Hernandez, and I will soon be a graduate with my masters in Visual Art Education from DePaul University! Will be graduating on June 14th!

I am crowdsourcing for aid to help with my rent/life post-grad as my family is unable to financially support me. While at school, my family has depended on me for financial support, and I had to juggle this while also trying to support myself by myself too. I've been supporting my family and myself financially with my on-campus job and funds from my graduate program which will end once I graduate. I'm thankful for the scholarships I've received because without them I wouldn't be here today.

Making it this far has shown to me how resilient I am because despite the obstacles (overall enduring emotional stress of seeing my family struggle and being the life line for my parents) I've faced with my family while in school, I’ve had to keep going for them and for my future success and security. It's crazy to see how far I've come despite the limitations I may have being first-gen.

I am working towards a career in public art programming, to use art as a transformative tool to bring reflection and joy in people’s lives, especially for people who have endured so much and need an outlet. I have earned up experience that I feel I can jump from to achieve my goals to work either at a library or museum. It would be great to not have financial limitations keep me from continuing to work towards my future.

These funds will go towards three months of rent and utilities. Knowing that I will be covered for my home, I can continue to help my family and work towards finding a job during these first three months post-graduation.
