Hello! Madronè here. I am a white trans multi-media performance artist, community organizer, energy worker, and budding ceremonialist, bodyworker and somatics practitioner —based in the Bay Area and Brattleboro.

I just received news I have been offered a spot to join my first ever Politicized Somatics Practitioner training program, Pathways to Power, with some big inspirations of mine, in a rare lineage of work deeply important to me.

Due to what I'm still recovering from, I am in deep despair and prayer that I may miss this opportunity that would resource me so much.

I was evicted with zero notice by my bio family this winter due to forms of retaliation for sacred work I was in. They acted in retaliation and overwhelm against me for, 1— sharing money they gave me in ways they don’t approve of with Black & Brown communities. And 2— for ceremony I was holding to break white generational curses @ the anniversary of the election, & during the evil Thankstaking feast offerings, while living on the Land of their house.

After the eviction, I was forced to live in an abusive community environment, while grieving a key elder to me, and I eventually put all my $ towards housing including rent for this March. I am currently without funds to pay the first installment of tuition of $670.

I am reaching out to community to sponsor my entrance into this training, that feels crucial to the recuperation of my spirit at this time. And also, urgently relevant to justice on Earth, as I write on below.

I have a timely deadline of Thursday, March 19 to make this payment, or I will be unable to take part in the training that spans 8 months starting this April. I would be eternally grateful and humbled for any support possible. Here is more info:

My dance practice has always been a practice of energy work releasing lies of white domination, numbness and fear.

While inhabiting both dance and social movement spaces, feeling that lack what the other offers, somatics practices for justice & liberation are ones I have spent years developing my own material for.

Embodiment practices as a direct pathway to process the shock, despair, shame, fear, individualism, and numbness that often arise when we try to take action to stop oppression are severely missing in movement spaces, & deeply sacred to be building at this time.

Those running this training come from Generative Somatics, which was the first organization in amerikkka to offer *politicized* somatics training.

There is a plethora of orgs offering trainings for “somatic” practitioners, but trainings for those seeking to facilitate embodiment specifically to ground us in our political action is rare.

This crossroads of ‘political/ized’ + ‘somatics’ is crucial to me, and in this world. A belief is held by many incl. me, that without bringing the body in, we will not be able to effectively mass mobilize (with) people. It becomes increasingly relevant and urgent by the day to be truly *rooted* in the organizing work we do, so we can effectively harness the power we have. I also want to share my specific passion for holding somatic space to resource our conversations on moving wealth.

Generative Somatics ended their work during Covid, and various of its trained practitioners are now running Politicized Somatics Collective as of quite recently. You can check them out at @politicizedsomaticscollective on instagram, incl the Pathways to Power flier.

It’s a deeply exciting opportunity that this unique form of training in politicized somatics is being offered again for those looking to become practitioners of it, and I am immensely honored and excited to have been accepted.

I have longed for awhile to feel, 1— less alone in developing this under-offered and urgently relevant work. To stand amongst teachers in it, and in less isolation and overwhelm with urgent practices I have to offer. And 2 —to be supported to offer my self developed exercises on bigger scales. To gain a network that can help me share them more widely.
