My father, Geno, and my mother, Sukanya, are supposed to be enjoying a quiet life of retirement. My parents have always been supportive and have always found ways to give back to those in the community when they could. My father is a former United States Marine, a youth track coach, and has always been a friend to anyone who would chat with him. My mother is a hard-worker, who has always put her family first, often working long hours to provide for us. For those of you who know my father, you know that he has a difficult time asking for help. This is why I am putting together this fundraiser to try to find a way to minimize the financial burden of this essential life saving surgery and care.

Over the past year, my father has unexpectedly ended up in the hospital three times. The first time was due to an accident that led to a serious infection. Not long after, he suffered a sudden loss of vision because of a severe eye infection. Now, he is back in the hospital with at least one clogged artery in his heart, which is making it hard for him to get enough oxygen. We are still waiting to hear more from his doctors, but it looks like he will need at least one stent put in, and in the worst case, he may need bypass surgery.

The medical expenses from these emergencies are piling up quickly. My parents are doing everything they can, but the costs are overwhelming. The funds raised through this campaign will help cover these expenses and allow my parents to focus on making the best choices for my father's care, without the constant worry about how they will afford it. This medical procedure could help extend my father's life and also allow for my parents to return to their daily routines, which include going to the gym, walking their dog Cesar, or volunteering as an English teacher in their neighborhood.
