I'm Nariman, Khalid's aunt, a Palestinian residing in Canada, and I'm reaching out to you with a heavy heart. As a mother of three daughters and a former worker with Doctors Without Borders in Palestine, I understand the profound impact of conflict and displacement. Here in Canada, alongside with being a mother of a newborn baby, I have dedicated part of my time to volunteering in community services to help newcomers find stability and support in their new home.

Khalid is my beloved nephew, the only child of my late brother Mohammed who was devastatingly killed in an Israeli airstrike leaving him orphaned and injured alongside his injured mother. Khalid is a sweet little boy whose life was once filled with love and laughter, surrounded by devoted parents, Mohammed and Ezdehar, his beloved grandparents, uncles, and aunties. Khalid, almost 2 years old, was the apple of their eye, the first child of his parents and our first grandson.

On the fateful day of October 19th, Khalid's world shattered into pieces. Amidst the escalating violence in Gaza, Khalid and his parents fled to Rafah in search of safety, leaving behind their grandparents in Northern Gaza. Tragically, Khalid's father, Mohammed, and seven other members of his mother's family, including his grandfather and four uncles, were killed.

On that day, Khalid and his mother were pulled from the rubble, their bodies battered and bruised, their hearts shattered by grief. Ezdehar, Khalid's mother, has been waiting for surgery for four agonizing months, enduring excruciating pain without access to proper medical care.

Still unable to process everything that happened to them, my little nephew and his mother are left alone without her family or his father to support them. The last his grandmother and aunties had seen him was on October 15th. We are pleading for your help to support them reunite with the remaining family members who can hold them together in a much safer area outside Gaza. Their longing echoes through the cramped apartment in Rafah, where they now reside with around 30 other displaced family members, struggling to find enough food and medicine to survive.

As tensions escalate and the threat of military operations looms over Rafah, Khalid's safety becomes increasingly precarious. That's why I'm launching this GoFundMe campaign – to help evacuate Khalid, his mother Ezdehar, his grandma Hanan, and two aunts to Egypt, where they can finally be reunited and find refuge from the horrors of war.

Your generous donations will provide the means to transport Khalid and his family to safety, where they can receive the medical care and psychological support they desperately need. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to reuniting Khalid and his mother with the family they’ve missed so much, offering them a glimmer of hope in the midst of darkness.

The funds raised will cover the crossing fees which will paid to Hala office in Cairo. 3500$ will go towards medical expenses, psychological support for Khalid, and their basic needs during their stay in Egypt. Here’s a cost breakdown in US dollars:

$35,000 (5,000*7) to evacuate Ezdehar, Hanan, Khalid(the grandparent), Badereldeen, Nada, Ahmed, and Eman.

$2500 to evacuate Khalid

$2300 for medical and survival support

أكتب لكم اليوم وقلبي يعتصره الألم، أنا ناريمان (عمة خالد) ، فلسطينية مقيمة في كندا. عاصرت في غزة أربعة حروب، كأم لثلاث بنات أعلم بشعور الأم بالخوف على أطفالها في وقت الحرب، وعلى صعيد حياتي المهنية كموظفة سابقة مع منظمة أطباء بلا حدود شهدت معاناة شعبي وأدركت آثار الحرب على الأطفال بشكل خاص.

خالد هو ابن أخي الراحل محمد، محمد استشهد في غارة جوية إسرائيلية على البناية التي لجأ اليها هو وعائلته في رفح، مما ترك خالد يتيمًا ومصابًا بالاضافة الى إصابة والدته. خالد الذي لم يتجاوز العامين، المحبوب من جميع من حوله، هو الابن الأول لوالديه والحفيد الأول لجديه.

بعد اشتداد الحرب على غزة، فر خالد ووالديه إلى رفح بحثًا عن الأمان، تاركين وراءهم عائلة والده في شمال غزة. للاسف بعد يومين من وصولهم لرفح استشهد والد خالد، محمد، وسبعة أفراد آخرين من عائلة والدته، بما في ذلك جده وأربعة أخوال.

في ذلك اليوم تم اخراج خالد ووالته بعد ساعات من تحت الأنقاض مصابين بكدمات وجروح في جميع أنجاء جسدهما. إزدهار، والدة خالد، على قائمة الانتظار لعملية جراحية منذ أربعة أشهر، تتحمل ألمًا شديدًا دون الحصول على الرعاية الطبية اللازمة أو المسكنات.

خالد ووالدته ظلوا وحيدين بدون أحد لدعمهما، في شقة صغيرة يقطنها أكثر من 30 نازح من عائلة والدته، يكافحون للعثور على الطعام والدواء للبقاء على قيد الحياة. ومما زاد معاناتهم انهم لم يستطيعوا لقاء جدته وعماته منذ تركوهم في 15 أكتوبر. ولذلك أطلب منكم المساعدة ليجتمعوا مرة أخرى بأفراد العائلة المتبقين خارج غزة.

ومع التهديدات المستمرة ببدء عملية عسكرية في رفح، اشتد الخطر على حياة خالد و أمه، وهذا ما دعاني إلى اطلاق هذه الحملة للمساعدة في إجلاء خالد ووالدته إزدهار وجدته حنان وعمتيه ندى وايمان إلى مصر، حيث يمكنهم أخيرًا أن يلتقوا ويجدوا ملجأ آمن بعيدا عن الحرب.

كل تبرع أو مساهمة، مهما كانت صغيرة، ستقرب خالد ووالدته من بر الأمان والالتقاء مجددا بالعائلة التي افتقدوها كثيرًا.

التبرعات التي سيتم جمعها ستغطي رسوم معبر رفح البري التي ستُدفع إلى مكتب هلا في القاهرة. وفيما يلي تفصيل تكلفة بالدولار الأمريكي:
