My property manager sexually harassed me, and after I refused his advances. He did this in front of my niece who I had finally gotten out of a very abusive household that she’d been stuck in her whole life. After that he began trying to force me out of my apartment. I need to move quickly to protect both of us. I can’t let my niece nor myself live under another sexually exploitative person like this. This has been frightening, overwhelming, and deeply unfair, but being quiet would only make it harder for me to help my niece and myself so I started speaking out immediately, and will continue to. I wanted to handle this on my own, and I still intend to keep fighting for us myself by continuing to work as much as possible and take up more side jobs where I can. I know we need outside support to get through this safely though. It's time to leave, as much as I love my little apartment. The money from this fundraiser will help cover the costs of moving into a new apartment, including movers because I am disabled as are most of my friends, as well as first and last month’s rent and a security deposit. Anything left over would go to saving for my niece or further helping her get the root canals she needs. I come from very little, and for a long time I believed very little in the world, until people on the internet helped me get my niece out of abuse after nearly 10 years of trying privately on my own. Whether you are able to help or not, I will be forever grateful for the kindness people have already shown us and of course the kindness y’all continue to give. If you can help us move quickly into a safe home, I thank you with every bit of my heart. I was already planning to move from my current place because it doesn't accommodate Frances, and there’s the nice bonus that just a little bit out of town we can have a place that not only fits us both, but is safe and way cheaper than where we’re at. Now I fear I have the only options of a) jeopardizing my niece and I’s safety and comfortability by staying here while I legally fight him, b) pander to this man which is also dangerous and gross, or c) get us out of here as soon as possible. I prefer the safest route, option c.. I just want us to be safe, I want to be able to focus on the dental and medical care she needs, I want her to be able to go on walks or swim with her around our little neighborhood whenever she asks me to without fear of this nasty man who has a lot of power over me. The pieces were all coming together before the sexual harassment and I’d just simply like to get back to where we were. I have copies of my conversations with my property manager including me confronting him for this behavior. I can’t release them right now because there’s a good chance I will need to take him to court using those texts, but if I ever can I will for transparency and to help warn others of this man and people like him. He began trying to push me out of my apartment until I informed him I had witnesses to what he’d said to me. He backed off and agreed to give me more space but I fear he won’t hold back for long.
