Qualifying for the 2026 National Speech and Debate Tournament has filled me with honor, pride, and joy. Being able to represent a school district that has poured into me countless times is a dream come true, and the chance to stand on the national stage is beyond anything I could have imagined. As the first national qualifier from my school in over nine years, I hope to pave a new path for students who want to continue what was started before them. I want to show the younger generation that if you stay persistent, things will eventually fall into place and change you—and your surroundings—for the better.
However, the travel and registration costs for this tournament are far beyond what my high school team can cover. As a homeless teen, I have to put in a ton of extra work to manage the financial side of these opportunities. Some of the expenses I need help with include paying for a rental car for the week in Richmond, the Airbnb we’ve chosen for lodging, money for meals (both cooking on rest days and eating out to celebrate), and new tournament attire. These costs add up quickly and are simply out of reach without support.
I want to thank everyone for even just reading my story and considering my need. To those who donate, your support means more than you could ever imagine. I am so blessed to have a community that is rallying to support me and willing to stick with me through this journey. I’d love to stay in touch so I can thank you personally and send you an invite link when I make it to that final stage. Your help will not only make this dream possible for me, but will also inspire others to keep striving for their own goals.
