Support My Mother’s Recovery Journey : Linda Sanchez

On February 24, 2026, my mother and I had just finished dinner and were talking like any normal evening. Suddenly she said, “Oh God, I’m dizzy,” and collapsed.

In complete panic, I called 911. The dispatcher walked me through CPR, and I performed it for 14 long minutes until help finally arrived. Those minutes felt like a lifetime.

She was rushed to HCA Osceola Regional Medical Center, where she has now been hospitalized for 19 days. From the very beginning, I have had to constantly advocate for her care and survival. We are not from this area. Despite everything and coding twice, she continues to fight and beat the odds through the grace of God. Jesus is our ultimate healer, and we are standing firmly on His promises.

She was heavily sedated for much of her hospitalization. While under sedation, neurological assessments were attempted — but sedation slows brain function and responses. I had to push for fair and accurate evaluations once she was fully off sedation.

In the early days, she suffered seizure activity. By the grace and mercy of God, the seizures stopped and her brain activity stabilized.

The brain can be slow to awaken after trauma. Healing often unfolds in levels and stages. Around Day 10 of hospitalization — and Day 5 completely off sedation — she began showing signs of improvement. First, she opened her eyes. Then she started moving her head. Soon after, she moved her arm.

On March 12, 2026, she squeezed my hand. That day marked the greatest progress and advancement in movement since this began. She was opening her eyes more, moving her head and arm more frequently, and showing encouraging neurological signs.

All of her movements have been spontaneous. While they are not yet purposeful or command-driven, spontaneous movement is still meaningful — it indicates that her brain is reconnecting and pathways are functioning. We understand that consciousness is often the last level to return in brain recovery. We are praying specifically for her full consciousness to return and that she will begin to follow commands during her neurological assessments, which will be major milestones in her healing.

We are also grateful to share that her MRI came back showing no damage to the brain related to this incident. That result gave us tremendous hope. Structurally, her brain shows no injury from what occurred on February 24. Now we are believing for full functional restoration.

However, on March 12 at 6 PM — the very same day she showed the greatest progress — she suddenly was unable to get oxygen. An emergency procedure was performed to investigate the cause. Doctors found nothing wrong with her airway. It required swapping out the ventilator three separate times before a functional machine was found. We were told it may have been faulty or defective equipment. None of this has yet been documented in her chart.

On the very day she showed the most neurological advancement, her oxygen was compromised. It was terrifying. But even in that frightening moment, God protected her. Once the proper ventilator was in place, she stabilized. However, she has been placed on sedation again, which restarts her process of recovery neurologically.

She remains on a ventilator and will soon undergo a tracheostomy and PEG tube procedure to continue supporting her recovery.

The hospital has begun discussing limiting care, even though she is showing signs of progress and has not been given a full chance to recover. Because of this, there is a huge possibility that I will need to transfer her to Baptist Health South Florida in Miami, where we are from and where she has an established history and where I believe she can receive the specialized care she deserves. The medical transport alone will be extremely costly and must be paid out of pocket (I am currently waiting on a quote).

It is very hard for me to ask for help. But the medical bills will soon begin arriving. In addition to hospital expenses and potential transfer costs, I am her caregiver and am trying to manage our living expenses during this crisis. My sister and I have not left her side since.

Above all, I believe in the power of prayer. Scripture reminds us in Psalm 41:3:

“The Lord sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness you restore him to full health.”

We are also holding onto Mark 5:41, when Jesus took the little girl by the hand and said, “Talitha koum,” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” I speak that same faith over my mother — arise.

And in John Chapter 11, Jesus called Lazarus from the tomb after four days and said, “Lazarus, come forth.” Even when others believed it was too late, Jesus showed that nothing is impossible with God. We believe it is not too late. We believe God has the final say.

If you feel led, please pray with us:
• Pray for full neurological restoration
• Pray for her consciousness to return
• Pray that she begins following commands during assessments
• Pray for protection during upcoming procedures
• Pray for wisdom and favor as I advocate for her care
• Pray for provision for these overwhelming medical expenses

I ask for your continued prayers for her recovery as we serve a merciful and gracious God — the ultimate Healer — and the One who has the final say. No diagnosis, no report, and no human opinion is greater than His authority. We trust in His perfect timing, His mercy, and His power to restore.

Any donation, no matter how small, truly helps and is deeply appreciated. Even the smallest contribution makes a difference during this overwhelming time. If you are unable to give financially, your prayers, shares, and words of encouragement mean more than you know.

All funds will go toward:
• Hospital and medical bills
• Emergency transport to a better facility
• Ongoing procedures and care
• Basic living expenses while I remain by her side

She is still here. She is still fighting. And God is still working.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, praying, sharing, and supporting us during this unimaginable time.
