Two weeks ago, our lives changed in an instant. Our mom, Dani Cannata, suffered multiple strokes, including bleeding in her brain and a brainstem stroke caused by unexpected cardiac clots. She spent time in the neuro trauma ICU on a ventilator and has fought through complications that no family ever expects to face. Before this, she was completely independent; hiking, traveling, working, and helping care for her grandkids. She has always been the steady, strong one for our family.
Today, she is making real progress. She is talking again (even if softly), standing with assistance, working daily with therapy, and showing the same determination that has always defined her. But recovery from strokes like this is a long road. She will need intensive inpatient rehabilitation, ongoing therapy, medical follow-up, and likely additional support at home while she rebuilds strength and independence.
During this time, she is unable to work, and the financial strain of medical care, rehabilitation, and extended recovery is significant. We are starting this fundraiser to help cover:
- inpatient rehabilitation costs, ongoing physical, occupational, and speech therapy
- medical expenses not covered by insurance
- adaptive equipment and home modifications if needed
- lost income during her recovery.
Most importantly, we want to give her the best possible chance at regaining her independence.
If you know our mom, you know she is strong, driven, and deeply loved. We are hopeful because we are already seeing signs of recovery, but we also know this will take time, support, and resources. Any contribution, share, or prayer means more than we can express.
Thank you for standing with her and with our family.
Chelsey and Mitchel
