Support My Mom’s Fight Against Pancreatic Cancer

Friends and family,

For those of you who know my mom, you may or may not be aware that she was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Since her diagnosis in early January, she has been fighting with so much strength and resilience. She has now completed seven rounds of chemotherapy and, thankfully, has been tolerating treatment very well. Her doctors have shared that she is making progress and remains a candidate to continue chemo, which gives us hope.

Since the end of December, she has been through a lot—hospitalization, her diagnosis, and an extended stay of about three months that unfortunately led to her losing the ability to walk. She later transitioned into a rehabilitation facility, where her goal has been to regain her strength and walk again. Despite a couple of recent setbacks, she continues to push forward with that same determination.

At this point, her insurance is no longer covering her stay in the rehabilitation portion of the nursing facility due to limited progress during this time. She is now at risk of being placed into long-term care, which, although it would still allow her to receive treatment, is not what we want for her. Our goal is to bring her home to Orlando, where she can be surrounded by her daughters, grandchildren, and even my dog Biggie ( who she swears is her dog) —something we truly believe will make a huge difference in her overall well-being, especially mentally and emotionally.

We have been given a limited window of about 30 days to make this transition happen before long-term placement decisions are finalized. During this time, there may also be a temporary gap in insurance coverage for her day-to-day care needs due to the change in location and services. While she would still be covered for emergencies, she requires around-the-clock care, including assistance with insulin, meals, and daily activities.

We are doing everything we can on our end to make this happen, but the out-of-pocket costs are significant. This includes medical transportation (estimated around $1,500) and covering her care during any lapse in coverage.

We wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t truly needed, but we are reaching out to our community to see if anyone is willing and able to support us during this time. Our goal is to raise between $5,000–$7,000 to help bring her home and ensure she receives the care she needs during this transition.

More than anything, we want her surrounded by love, familiarity, and support as she continues this fight. If you’re unable to give, we completely understand—your prayers, shares, and kind words mean just as much to us.

Thank you for taking the time to read and for keeping our family in your thoughts. ❤️
