Dear friends, family, and whoever will listen,

I’d like to share my mom's story with you. This is truly the last thing I would like to do on behalf of my mom, Teca, who has been having an ongoing battle with cancer. In 2015, she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and from 2018 until November 2022, she was in remission.

Unfortunately, she had a reoccurrence. She was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, which is an incurable disease that typically starts with breast cancer spreading to the bones. She has been undergoing treatment and has sadly had to switch from many different oral chemos after her body becomes resistant to the medication and has to switch onto the next.

My mom has always been the sweetest, most giving, and compassionate person I know. My brother, sister, niece, dad, and I want to preserve her life as much as we can as she is such a beautiful soul, and a vital part of our lives. My family and I can’t imagine a world where she’s not in ours.

After a year of doing pretty well considering what she has been going through, shortly into her second year of treatment we found out her breast cancer spread to her liver and had to switch treatment again now onto a different type of chemo through an IV. She soon developed ascites (abdominal fluid buildup) due to the tumors in her liver so she quickly became more sick, practically bedridden. Our family knew we had to quickly outsource and find different treatments, procedures, truly anything at this point to improve her quality of life.

We discovered a procedure called Histotripsy that is a targeted procedure for liver mets. We immediately started the process to make sure she qualified and was hopefully strong enough to be able to undergo another form of treatment. We have also taken her to a few of the best cancer hospitals in the US with hopes of finding a way to improve her day-to-day symptoms. Unfortunately, this procedure is not covered by our insurance, we can only pay so much out of pocket and my family and I would like to kindly ask of anyone who can help support my mom's fight with cancer at this time, those who can’t help us financially, my family and I ask to keep her in your prayers and thoughts.
