My name is Jaylan Rose Shegog and I reside in NYC. I decided to create this gofundme in support of my family living in Texas, facing heavy hardship. My mother, Juandalyn Shegog, and my perfect angel sister, Jasmine Nicole - born with Down Syndrome - were displaced from their living arrangement of almost 2 years, resulting in homelessness. They are currently staying in a motel as I do my best to secure them a place of stability. I have called and emailed numerous of housing programs in the Dallas area, inquiring about any expedited assistance, and the only emergency service they could provide would result in them going to a shelter. Because section 8/HUD programs are application and lottery based, we are not able to immediately qualify and will have to join a waiting list (which my mother has applied for back in 2023). I've been working really hard to secure them an apartment, but considering my mom's lack of income, my rental history, and a reasonable rent budget - since I'll be financially supporting them - it has been extremely difficult to land a place. The funds raised will help keep a roof over my family's head temporarily (extended stay hotels, airbnb, etc) as I continue to work diligently on finding them a place of security. The thought of them going to a shelter truly breaks my heart, and even though the past 2 weeks have been heavy on me, I will continue to push through and make sure they are okay. I am also open to any available resources that would be beneficial, specifically around housing. Thank you all so much for the love and support!
