On July 18th, my family was involved in a horrific car accident involving a semitruck. While on their way home, a storm obstructed their vision, which caused them to collide with the back of a semitruck. The impact caused the front of the van to cave into the dashboard, and they had to be pulled out quickly by other people on the road. Due to the weather, first responders could not airlift my mom and had to take her by ambulance to one city before having to take her an additional hour to another to receive trauma care. The rest of my family had to be taken separately by ambulance, and my father also had to take an additional trip by ambulance to receive trauma care.

Their injuries include:

My mom (most severe):

• Multiple broken bones (sternum, ribs, shoulder, wrist, ankle)
• Body lacerations (reconstruction of abdomen)
• Fluid in lung
• Underwent blood transfusion

My dad:

• Broken bones and injuries to his left leg

My sister and nephew:

• Minor injuries

My mom is currently being cared for 6 hours from my location and 4 hours from the rest of my family. They no longer have a car to get to her and have been relying on car rentals, planes, and paying for hotels.
