Hello Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers!

This November, right before Thanksgiving, it will be a year that my mother and sister have been in their uninhabitable home. After hiring a family friend as a contractor, getting a loan, and paying him, he did the demo and never finished, took my mom's money, and even ghosted her. My family has been confined to their second floor, without a kitchen or access to laundry.

On top of the pain of this being a betrayal by a family friend (and giving him multiple chances to fix the situation), my mother is recovering from back surgery and is forced every week to bring laundry to the laundromat. She has been out of work for months, paying her bills on limited pay. So, she has her normal bills, the loan for this work, and her medical bills. When it rains, it pours.

In December of 2019, my mother finally achieved one of her dreams and bought her first house in East Providence, and now...she can't even live in it or enjoy it. For context, when I was 8 until about 11/12, we lived in a 1-bedroom on the East Side. I got the bedroom, and my mom slept in the hallway. She deserves to relax and thrive in her own home that she has worked SO HARD FOR.

I am making this GoFundMe to help recoup the money she spent on this scammer and for her medical/house bills. My mother is a rock in our family, not only my favorite person but she has housed people who needed it, lent money to folks - she is always SHOWING UP FOR PEOPLE and it is my hope we can show up for her.
