Help Me Build a Home Podcast Studio to Share Powerful Stories
Hi, I’m Mikey — host of the Mikey’s House Podcast, where I share my journey living with ALS, epilepsy, and a rare genetic mutation, while creating a safe and meaningful space for people with chronic, rare, and undiagnosed illnesses to share their stories too.
This podcast is more than a show.
It’s how I process, connect, and give back to a community that is often unseen or unheard.
It’s a lifeline for me and for others.
Why I Need Your Help
As my ALS progresses, physically getting to a studio has become too exhausting and draining. To continue this work in a way that’s sustainable for my body, I need to build a small, accessible home podcast setup where I can create freely, safely, and consistently.
I’m asking for $2,500 to help me purchase the essential gear and tools that will allow me to continue producing both video and audio content from home:
Equipment I Need:
- A new microphone (clear audio for interviews and solo episodes)
- Two XLR cables (for connecting mic and backup audio)
- A video camera (for high-quality YouTube and social content)
- An SD card + SD card reader (to store and transfer footage)
- A USB hub (to connect all devices reliably)
- An external hard drive (for backups and media storage)
- Software and editing tools (like Descript, Canva Pro, and podcast editing plugins)
- A small tech fund for repairs and replacements as needed
This will help me record and edit fully from home, without the physical toll of traveling, and help me give listeners a better, more professional experience.
