My name is Rohit Anand and I have received an offer to study the MBA at University of Oxford. I am raising funds to cover a part of my fees and living expenses for the next year at university. I aim to raise £20000 which is 27% of the tuition fees ( £60K) and estimated living expenses (£12K) for 1 year. I have secured the rest of the £52K through loans and personal savings.
For someone who spent his childhood in one of the most deprived states of India, studying in an institution like Oxford was always a dream. So even after working long hours in my job, I worked hard to do whatever was required to get a place in Oxford. All those late- and long-night efforts for a high GMAT were paid off when I was selected for the course in the last round of application which is usually the toughest one to get.
But since I was selected in the last round, I was not offered any scholarship. Moreover, being an international student, I am not eligible for a UK student loan. With no collateral to offer, I have been able to secure a loan only for a part of my tuition fee.
I am trying hard to convert my dream of a quality education into a reality as I believe that quality education is the key to human development and it is imperative for the creation of a conscious and aware society. While growing up in one of the most deprived states of India, Bihar, I have personally experienced ill-effects of mass degradation of the education system. When leaders made every effort to destroy the legacy which the state had since ancient times, people’s understanding of their freedom, opportunity, and well-being degraded severely.
Post my MBA, I will utilize my education, learning, and a diverse perspective gained at Oxford to work in the social impact sector as I want my education to play a role in human development. I have planned to work for improving the quality of education, establishing and improving the reach of quality public health, and solving other issues paramount for human development. I see myself working on projects making a difference in human life.
I hope that my time at Oxford will not only help me learn the fundamentals of business but also help me diversify my perspective so that I should be able to think and act towards the greater good of the society.
Any support, £5 , £10, £50 would help me to reach towards my goal.
A promise to give back :
Irrespective of whether I generate enough funding or not, I am determined to give back to society via a fund that I have planned to set up for the quality-education of bright students who are not able to fund their education themselves.
Your contribution will certainly help to accelerate the process.
I am also happy to help people in GMAT, other entrance examinations and essays.
Thanks
