Hello, my name is María Sánchez Aroca, and I am currently completing my Master’s degree in violin at ArtEZ Conservatorium under the guidance of Sarah Kapustin.
My final master’s project brings together the artistic and personal journey I have developed over the past two years. The first part of the program reflects the work carried out during my studies with my teacher, focusing on violin performance, musical depth and artistic growth.
Alongside this, the project also presents a deeply personal research initiative connected to my hometown and its musical heritage: the recovery and documentation of a historical local orchestra. Through archival research, interviews and historical material, I have developed a thesis that seeks to preserve and give visibility to an important part of my town’s cultural memory.
This research will be presented in a multidisciplinary format that combines video, live performance and specially adapted processional marches arranged for string quintet. Some of these arrangements reimagine traditional music within a more modern and contemporary performance format, creating a dialogue between tradition and the present day.
This final project represents not only the conclusion of my master’s studies, but also a reflection of my identity as a musician and the connection between my artistic development and my cultural roots.
To make this project possible, I am seeking support to help cover essential expenses such as venue rental, score arrangements, recording and technical production costs.
Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean a great deal to me and would directly help bring this project to life.
Thank you so much for supporting my music and this very special final step in my artistic journey.
