I was recently accepted into the Financial Services Analytics program at University of Delaware—an opportunity that represents years of hard work, sacrifice, and a real chance to change my future.
I received a 20% tuition scholarship, which I am truly grateful for. However, the total cost of completing the two-year program is still very high when including essential expenses such as housing, health insurance, food, and transportation. These costs are the biggest barrier preventing me from starting this journey.
I come from Ecuador and have been working hard to build a future in data science and finance. While living in the United States, I have taken on different jobs to support myself, including working as a casino dealer and running a small mobile mechanic service. Although this helps me cover basic expenses, it is not enough to afford graduate school.
At the same time, I have been consistently applying for jobs in my field, but the current job market has been extremely challenging, and I have not yet been able to secure an opportunity in data science or analytics. That is why pursuing this master’s degree has become my best path forward—to grow professionally, open new doors, and build a stable future for myself and my family.
Additionally, I can only apply for assistantships or research opportunities after I am officially enrolled in the program. This means I must first overcome this initial financial barrier on my own.
The support I receive will go directly toward housing, health insurance, food, transportation, and part of my tuition. With this help, I will be able to fully focus on my studies, perform at a high level, and position myself to earn assistantships that can support me long-term.
This is more than a degree for me—it’s a turning point. It’s the opportunity to finally step into the career I’ve been working toward for years and to eventually give back to my family and community.

Fui recientemente aceptado en el programa de Financial Services Analytics en la University of Delaware, una oportunidad que representa años de esfuerzo, sacrificio y la posibilidad real de cambiar mi futuro.
Recibí una beca del 20% en la matrícula, por la cual estoy muy agradecido. Sin embargo, el costo total del programa de dos años sigue siendo muy alto al considerar gastos esenciales como vivienda, seguro médico, alimentación y transporte. Estos costos son la principal barrera que me impide comenzar este camino.
Soy de Ecuador y he trabajado constantemente para construir un futuro en ciencia de datos y finanzas. Desde que estoy en Estados Unidos, he tenido que trabajar en distintos empleos para sostenerme, incluyendo mi trabajo como dealer en casino y también ofreciendo servicios como mecánico móvil. Aunque esto me ayuda a cubrir gastos básicos, no es suficiente para pagar una maestría.
Al mismo tiempo, he estado aplicando de manera constante a trabajos en mi área, pero el mercado laboral actualmente está muy difícil, y no he logrado conseguir una oportunidad en ciencia de datos o análisis.
Por eso, esta maestría representa mi mejor opción para avanzar profesionalmente, abrir nuevas oportunidades y construir una estabilidad para mí y mi familia.
Además, solo puedo aplicar a asistencias o posiciones de investigación una vez que ya esté dentro del programa, lo que significa que primero debo superar esta barrera económica inicial por mi cuenta.
El apoyo que reciba será destinado directamente a cubrir vivienda, seguro médico, alimentación, transporte y parte de la matrícula. Esto me permitirá concentrarme completamente en mis estudios, rendir al máximo y tener la oportunidad de obtener financiamiento dentro de la universidad más adelante.
Esto no es solo un título para mí, es un punto de cambio en mi vida. Es la oportunidad de alcanzar una meta por la que he trabajado durante años y, en el futuro, poder ayudar a mi familia y aportar a mi comunidad.
