I started this entity in January of 2020 to be the business face of my martial arts teaching and education. The mission was to create an online martial arts magazine, which has taken the primary form of a podcast, as well as to teach private lessons and seminars. I also began making rattan sticks for the practice of Filipino martial arts. This was a major career change for me after decades as an editor in TV. In 2019, after losing both my father and stepmother, I reevaluated what was important to me, and venturing out on my own to teach martial arts through multimedia and in person was what my soul truly wanted.
I’ve put this GoFundMe together to ask for a little help with keeping my company going after a slow last quarter and a slow beginning of the year. Beginning-of-the-year costs—licenses, storage, and accounting—have been crushing, and it’s creating a situation where I may have to close my business entity within a few short months. This has been a hard decision for me, as I am very much a private and independent person now in my fifth decade of life. Asking for help is something I’ve rarely done and consider a last resort, so I stand humbly and ask for help.
