Support My Research Journey about AI and Elections

Hi! I’m Vladislava — a communications specialist who’s spent the past few years working across Europe to support vulnerable communities, fight digital propaganda, and advocate for social justice.
This year, something extraordinary happened:
I was accepted to the London School of Economics and Political Science to study for a Master’s in Political Sociology, starting in September 2025. My focus will be on the connection between artificial intelligence, disinformation, and democracy — one of the most urgent issues of our time.
In the UK, LSE has been recognised as the University of the Year 2025 by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide. It consistently leads in subjects like political science, sociology, media studies, and international relations — often outranking even Oxford and Cambridge in these fields.
Getting into LSE for postgraduate study is extremely competitive, with some programs accepting as few as 1 in 10 applicants. Each year, LSE receives over 20,000 master’s applications, and admission is based on academic excellence, a strong personal statement, and relevant experience. Being accepted into this program reflects years of dedication to research the pursuit of social change.
But to get there, I need your support.
This isn’t a new passion — it’s a path I’ve been on for years.
In high school, I wrote my first thesis on freedom of speech.
During my undergraduate studies, I explored how Russian state media shapes economic behaviour and public trust.
Now, I’m ready to go deeper — to understand how AI, bots, and algorithmic systems are influencing public opinion, distorting elections, and reshaping the future of democracy in Europe.
Studying at LSE will give me the tools to investigate these systems, develop ethical frameworks, and support civil society in responding to digital oppression.
Why I’m Asking for Support
This opportunity is life-changing — but it comes with a significant financial burden.
Despite working multiple jobs and applying for scholarships, I still need help covering the costs:
- Tuition fees: £28,000
- Visa and health insurance: £1,522
- Living expenses in London (12 months): ~£16,000
Even a small contribution — £5, £10, or just a share — brings me closer to making this vision real.
Why This Work Matters
Artificial intelligence is not neutral. It’s already being used to spread propaganda, target minority groups, and manipulate elections. The consequences are global, and the people most affected are often the least represented.
I want to change that — by using this degree to:
- Contribute to digital policy grounded in ethics and inclusion
- Support communities impacted by misinformation and manipulation
- Help civil society navigate the challenges of AI and online influence
This isn’t just about my future. It’s about helping shape a world where truth still has a place — and where technology works for people.
In the near future, it won’t matter whether you vote left, right, or not at all — if we don’t start building policies for how elections function online, your voice won’t matter either.
