I was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease in 2018 while pregnant with my first & only child. It’s a genetic disease without a cure. As the disease has progressed and I have gotten sicker, it has become apparent that I will need an organ transplant. My transplant is going through Oschner Transplant Center, and I have been put on the national kidney wait list, which averages 5-7 years. Fortunately, a friend has stepped forward to be a living donor.
1/20 UPDATE: Surgery has been scheduled for 4/27!! It’s a JazzFest miracle! We are fundraising to support my donor’s flight expenses & accommodations, as well as my household expenses & medical supplies while I’m out of commission for 8-12 weeks.
I happen to live in an amazing community & will also have an in person fundraiser at The Little House, date TBD. In addition, I’ll have a meal train sign up & ride sign up to get myself back & forth to the hospital & my son to school/summer camp. I very much appreciate everyone who has donated & offered to help. I don’t have words to express my appreciation to my donor. It’s an extremely selfless act that will enable me to watch my little boy grow up. In a world full of chaos, it’s easy to forget that people are loving & good. I’m now reminded of that everyday & will continue to be reminded of that for hopefully a long long life ahead.
