Hi, my name is Alex.
I was 16 when my life changed in ways I couldn’t understand at the time. I was diagnosed with Lupus, an autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks healthy cells, causing inflammation and pain in various body parts. Over time, it led to lupus nephritis, where my immune system began damaging my kidneys.
The past 12 years have been a constant battle. Dealing with lupus flares, blood clots in my renal vein, lungs, and my sinus. I have taken an endless number of medications, received multiple infusions, undergone chemotherapy, and began dialysis. While it has not been easy, I still have not given up the fight.
After years of treatments, daily medications, and countless hospital visits, I did everything I could to preserve my kidney function. Despite my best efforts, my nephritis progressed to class 3 in 2021, and by 2025, I was diagnosed with class 6 — the final stage. Now, I have finally been approved for my kidney transplant scheduled for this May.
I have been waiting for this surgery for many years, and while I am grateful that it is finally happening, the reality of the situation is setting in. I am currently seeking support to help cover the ongoing costs of rehabilitation, medical travel, transportation between appointments, and other expenses associated with continued care.
Any form of support whether be donations or sharing this page means the world. Thank you for your kindness and your generosity.
Also, thank you for taking the time to read my story. Even though my journey has been full of ups and downs, I still have hope. I know my story isn't over yet - I take it one day at a time and keep fighting. Lupus may be part of my life, but it does not define all of who I am.
