I am Khushnoor Kaur Rangi, an 18 year old student-athlete who is going to represent Australia internationally at the under 20 world championships in Pole Vault!
At 11 years old I discovered athletics, and at 15, i started pole vault where I became obsessed with the sport. From that moment on, I knew that I wanted to pursue athletics as a career. Since then it has become a part of my life. After years of hard work and dedication, now I have been selected to represent Australia Internationally at the World U20 Championships — the biggest competition of my life!
This trek wouldn't be possible without my coach, Bill. For the last 5 years, he has been by my side through every national and international competition. He has supported me as an athlete, but especially as a person and seeing Bill alongside me this August in Oregon wearing the Green & Gold means so much to me.
However, competing at the World U20 Championships comes with downside of major financial costs. The team levy has an expense of over $5,000, for flights, accommodation, uniforms, and competition expenses. Bringing a coach is an additional cost on top of this. At the biggest competition of my career so far I'd be at a disadvantage without my coach.
The opportunity that I have to represent Australia this August in Oregon for the U20 World Championships is something I am so incredibly grateful for. However I wouldn't be here without all the people that have believed in me, invested in me, and pushed me, So any support, big or small can make a tremendous contribution to me and my Athletic Journey.
