UPDATE: Thank you so much for all your support so far. I am increasing my goal so any additional funds will be used towards physio sessions and a better daytime knee brace to help me on my road to recovery.
My name is Loz (a.k.a. Amazing Disgrace) and I’ve been given the incredible honour of representing Team West Indies at the upcoming Roller Derby World Cup. I also skate with London Roller Derby’s Brawl Saints and we will be competing in the Five Nations Championship.
As a Black skater in a predominantly white sport, I know first-hand the power of visibility. Just being on the track is an act of representation. Add to that my journey with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and you’ll understand why this isn’t just about derby—it’s about showing up for every person who’s been told they don’t belong, or that their body can’t.
In the MS community, we say: “If you don’t use it, you’ll lose it.” That’s real for me—movement is essential to managing my condition. Roller derby is my therapy.
Unfortunately, I recently dislocated my knee during a scrimmage. It was painful, both physically and emotionally, knowing how close I am to achieving something so meaningful to me.
My knee is healing but in order to safely return to skating and compete at my best, I urgently need a medical-grade knee brace recommended by my doctor. This brace will support my joint, protect it from further injury, and give me the stability and peace of mind I need to train and compete, without putting my long-term health at risk.
The cost of the brace is more than I can afford alone, that’s why I’m asking for your help. I’m raising £500 to cover the cost to get back on track—literally and figuratively.
This journey is about more than skating. It’s about challenging stereotypes, pushing through chronic illness, and representing communities that are too often overlooked in sport. Your support will help me stand strong—for Team West Indies, for Black skaters, for MS warriors, and for everyone fighting to hold their place on the track.
If you can donate or share this campaign, please know how deeply grateful I am. Every bit helps me get one step closer to that starting whistle.
With love and determination,
