Hey, I’m Marielen Baranek, 18 years old and I’ve been accepted into the Change the World Academy 2026 in New York City.

The Change the World Academy is an international program connected with the United Nations that brings together students from all over the world to learn about diplomacy, global issues and leadership through Model UN conferences. It’s a space where young people work together to create real ideas for a better future.

This opportunity came quite unexpectedly. I honestly hadn’t planned or budgeted for it during my current travels, as I didn’t think I’d actually get in. So while I’m incredibly thankful and excited, there are some unexpected extra costs for accommodation, and materials that I need to cover myself, even though I was lucky enough to be awarded a scholarship for this event.

Every small contribution helps me move forward with more confidence and gratitude.
