Support my Journey to surf for a championship title
Donation protected
Hi, I am Amy.
(please note the update at the bottom of the page)
In May this year after an extensive selection process and time, I received a surreal letter that congratulated me on my selection to represent Australia at the up incoming FISU World University Championships held this September the 2-8th in Rio De Janeiro Brazil. It is at these games I will get the opportunity fulfil dreams and compete for a world championship title. I Feel so blessed and honoured to have this opportunity and to debut in the green and gold for my first time.
Surfing has had a place in my heart since my very first wave at age 8 and despite some major medical obstacles that should have made surfing impossible, through the love of the sport, faith and belief, I went on to defy all the odds and never stopped dreaming I could overcome the impossible. I now stand here today having not only surfed in professional events since age 16 but now have a chance at a new opportunity I never even imagined I’d be in.
Surfing is a self-funded sport and unfortunately that makes competing and affording the expenses a real challenge. The cost to get to Brazil for the games including flights, insurance, registrations, athlete village fees, uniforms etc is approximately $7500. As much as I wish I could come up with this on my own, I just haven’t been able to get there. Therefore, I am reaching out for your support of my journey to the World Championships.
Not only would your support mean the absolute world to me, and I would be so incredibly touched, it helps me in aspiring towards another one of my biggest goals in hoping to encourage others along my journey and in my story to believe that nothing is impossible and to never stop dreaming big.
Thank you so much for your kindness, I truly appreciate every single thought and act of your support.

UPDATE;
Unfortunately over the weekend I received some super heartbreaking news. Just 2 weeks out from the World University Championships and having received uniforms, accommodation information etc we have just been informed that the Surfing event has been cancelled on extremely short notice and due to unforeseen circumstances. This was completely un expected and super devastating however likely for our safety and protection.
However as one door has closed, another one has opened. I have just gotten the new opportunity to instead compete in two WSL WQS Professional surfing Events in Japan this September. The Miyazaki Pro form the 11-14th and then the Hyuga Pro from the 17-20th. The events will be live to watch worldwide and host some of the worlds best surfers.
I would be so incredibly grateful for this donation page and what people have so kindly and generously given, to go towards these two international professional events instead. As I still use this opportunity to inspire others, share my story and aim for my greatest surfing result ever.
However all donations from the 13th of August have been contacted and made aware of this change and have been given an opportunity for refund.
GO FUND ME offers the opportunity for a refund through there contact page- please contct them for more information.
Anyone donating from 13th Aug onwards PLEASE NOTE, you would now be contributing to this new opportunity to compete in Japan.
Kindest Regards,
Amy
