The time has come. I have officially exhausted all resources and done everything my docs suggested, so now it's time for permanent surgery.
With endometriosis, ugly menstrual cycles, pain, hormone issues, and all of the stress and exhaustion that comes with it, a hysterectomy is now my best option to improve my quality of life. I'm just so sick of being miserable, tired, in pain, and missing out on life events because of it.
The only thing that helped manage symptoms was estrogen birth control, but I can't have that anymore due to health risks, and progesterone-only birth control is not working.
I am trying to figure out how to afford insurance. It will delay the timeline, but if I could get enough donations to afford insurance out-of-pocket costs, it might mean better care and aftercare.
Currently, I can't afford insurance (yes, my company offers it, it is still very expensive) and there's still a chance it wouldn't cover this surgery anyway if one of the hoops to jump through considers it "elective" rather than medically necessary.
So here we are. Estimated costs range from 10-15k for surgery and doctor fees, as well as pre- and follow-up appointments being 200-300 each. I already owe doctors a combined 2000 from all of the other visits I've had to "exhaust all options" and get approved for the hysterectomy.
Tentative surgery date for end of October, but will be pushed to next Jan/Feb 2026 if insurance is achievable.
Anything helps and I greatly appreciate everything anyone can offer.
