Help Me Attend Johns Hopkins School of Nursing
I'm honored to have been accepted into the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing—one of the top programs in the country! My personal experience and professional aspirations shape my drive to provide healthcare to underserved communities. I witnessed firsthand the struggles of people who did not have access to the care or resources necessary to live a healthy life. This shaped my desire to become a nurse and a public health official, so I could assist people in receiving the care they deserve. This drove me to major in public health and Spanish while I was in undergrad, so I could help more people in the communities reach a complete state of physical, mental, and social well-being.
After graduating, I had the privilege of participating in the Public Health Associate Program (PHAP) with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where I was stationed in the Preventive Health Clinic in Lawrenceville, Georgia. In my role, I serve as a tuberculosis case manager. Through this experience, I gained a deeper understanding of the social determinants of health and the crucial role that public health professionals, including nurses, play in addressing health disparities.
Throughout my program, I felt a calling to do more. I worked with the nurses and saw how their compassion and love for their patients improved people's overall outcomes because the patients felt seen, heard, and supported. The nursing field is filled with dedicated individuals who strive to make changes in people's lives. This position allowed me to have a direct part in my patients' care, and every chance I could, I advocated for them to ensure they were not taken advantage of.
The experiences I had here inspired me to pursue a career in nursing to help people from all walks of life, because I know I have the skills and compassion to help all populations receive the care they deserve.
Coming from a single-parent household, this achievement means the world to me, but I need your help to make it a reality. I'm raising funds to cover essential costs like relocation, housing, books, and materials. Any support, no matter the size, brings me one step closer to becoming the nurse I’ve always dreamed of being. Thank you for believing in me! ✨
