I will be traveling to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota to hopefully get some answers and find out new treatment options for the rare autoimmune eye condition I have been suffering from for 5 1/2 years. My specialists have deemed me one of the most difficult uveitis patients they have ever had to treat and have never experienced a case so resistant to any and all standard treatments and experimental treatments. I have also suffered from other chronic pain and illnesses due to the chronic use of prednisone and various other high dose immunosuppressants for the last 3 and a half years. I now have fibromyalgia, neuropathy, among other issues. I have exhausted all of the treatments that my rheumatologist is comfortable enough to experiment with without consulting some of the top specialists in our country. Everything from prednisone to chemo. The chemo had a lasting effect along with continuing moderate doses of prednisone and a max dose of Cellcept until it failed in November of 2024. We are having to travel by car because flights were too expensive for Shawn and I to each get tickets, and it’s a 13 hour trip. And the Mayo Clinic just with only a week away from my trip that I am going to owe them money as my Medicaid isn’t going to cover all of my medical expenses, until today I was under the impression I wouldn’t owe them anything. Regardless of how irritated I am about this Mayo Clinic is currently the greatest opportunity I have to try and find the right treatment to put me into remission and better control my condition. This is the highest rated hospital in the country, and it’s an opportunity for our family to maybe function a little closer to normal. I hate asking for money, but due to the current state of our economy and due to my own personal finances I am left with this option to try to raise something to help with this. Sometimes I just have to push my pride aside and accept I can’t figure everything out on my own. I know everyone is struggling right now, but anything helps even if it’s just sharing the GoFundMe. Thank you so much.
