I’m just a girl with vascular type Ehlers-Danlos, thrown a huge curveball and urgently in need of major spinal surgery.
I’ve been shouldering my disorder by myself over the years, bouncing from doctors to hospitals getting poked and prodded without any functional support like nearby family to lend a hand to accompany me to the doctor. Now, I face the need for a major neurosurgery without the means to maintain my healthcare and housing, and I am terrified.
This spine injury has caused me to be out of work, and with a very limited income, and I’m in the red. My goals are to heal and finish rehab peacefully without the constant panic of past-due notifications and wondering how I’ll eat - then get back to work as soon as I can!
Your assistance will help me maintain my housing, purchase mobility aids to help make my apartment accessible, and help me pay for medical treatments that I’ve failed to strong-arm insurance into covering.
I’m embarrassed to say I’ll need significant help to survive this period of time - 6-12 months depending on recovery. I spend most of my time and bandwidth literally fighting for my life; vEDS is a rare and complicated condition that’s hard for people to understand. Although I’ve had several surgeries in my life and am not a stranger to pain, this is on another level, and I need help.
I love you all ❤️ Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me get back to myself again, stronger than before!
