Update: On June 9, I was admitted to the hospital again due to an abscess that had formed on my incision. It required surgery to remove and clean out the area. The infectious disease team ran cultures from the abscess and found two types of staph infections, so I was placed on strong IV antibiotics. After nine days, I was finally discharged and began antibiotic infusions.
Unfortunately, on July 3, at a follow-up with my neurosurgeon, I was readmitted due to continued drainage from the incision — a sign the infection hasn’t cleared up. They initially planned to operate on the 4th, but with the holiday weekend, plans were delayed.
Now I’m waiting in the hospital until Monday to undergo a lumbar puncture to determine whether a shunt needs to be placed to relieve pressure in my brain. However, if the infection is still present, they won’t be able to proceed. This means I may be facing a long and uncertain road ahead.
Any support — even just a kind word or prayer — means the world right now.
….
I’ve recently been diagnosed with Chiari Malformation 1.5, a serious neurological condition that restricts the flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) to my brain. After months of debilitating symptoms and appointments with multiple specialists, it’s been confirmed that I need urgent brain surgery, scheduled for April 14 — or sooner, pending insurance approval.
I’m a single mom to my amazing 3-year-old son, Drew, and a teacher in Royce City. I also attend One Church in Caddo Mills, where I’ve found strength through community and faith.
Due to the severity of my condition and the demands of recovery — expected to last 12 weeks or more — I’m unable to work and was denied short-term disability. This has left me facing overwhelming financial burdens during this time.
This condition affects my spinal cord and causes daily, debilitating symptoms, making even basic tasks incredibly difficult. The funds raised will go directly toward:
• Medical expenses & brain surgery costs
• Post-operative care & rehabilitation
• Basic living needs for me and Drew during recovery
I humbly ask for your support during this journey. Any amount you can give — no matter how small — will make a meaningful difference.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your love, support, and prayers.
