As some of you already know, on Friday 21 June my life got turned upside down when I was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. Scans and tests confirmed I had a ductal carcinoma approximately 4cm in size, estrogen and progesterone positive (HER negative), that had started to invade the surrounding breast tissue. I was quickly ushered into the conventional medical system where it was recommended surgery as soon as possible.
After the initial lumpectomy to remove the tumour (where I had approximately a third of my right breast removed) cancer was found in one of my lymph nodes. During the follow up surgery, three more lymph nodes were taken out and further tissue in my breast removed to ensure I had clear margins.
I met with multiple doctors as I recovered from surgery including my surgeon, an oncologist and a radiologist, to discuss further local and systemic treatments. As I listened to their recommendations to undergo chemotherapy, radiation and hormone therapy, and was made aware of the alarmingly small percentage increase in survivability from these treatments, I decided against them. I realised that these options weren’t going to heal the root cause of my cancer, and I felt called to truly explore what this diagnosis meant for me. The more I tuned into myself, the clearer it became what my healing journey truly needed. I decided to heal myself naturally.
The natural way to kill micro cancer cells is to restore the body to its ultimate health. There are ways to test to see if these natural treatments are working, however they’re all very expensive. The most difficult thing I have to live with now is the uncertainty of not knowing if my protocol is working or not, and dealing with the fear and anxiety that the cancer has spread to other parts of my body.
While others have walked this path, it’s still one less traveled. With no support from our medical system (unless you have considerable means) you must piece together your protocol on your own. Finding the right team of doctors has been a journey in itself. I’ve met with integrative doctors and cancer-specialist naturopaths, and while I feel I’m nearly there, I’ve now reached a point where I’m financially unable to continue the way I need to due to the expensive costs associated with this approach.
To give you an idea, consultations with integrative doctors range from $300 to $500 per session. Specialised tests, essential for tracking my progress, cost anywhere from $300 to $800 each, plus follow-up consultation fees… and they are ongoing. Treatments such as high-dose intravenous Vitamin C sessions cost $300 each, and my current supplements alone are $500 per month.
Up to now, I’ve managed to support myself, but I’m now in a position where I simply need more help to continue on this path.
One opportunity that would be especially beneficial is a detox retreat, where I could go deeper into this treatment protocol. It costs $5,000—a dream, but one that I hope could become possible with support.
This is why I’m reaching out through this fundraiser, to ask for support in following this natural path to healing. Any contribution, big or small, would be deeply appreciated and would allow me the chance to continue healing in alignment with what I truly believe is best for my body.
Thank you for listening, for your support, and for being part of this journey with me.
With hope and gratitude,
Basia
