Hi, my name is Denise, and I never imagined I would be in a position where I’d have to ask for help like this.
In 2017, I was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer called chondrosarcoma. It completely changed the course of my life. I was faced with an impossible decision — my leg, or my life. To survive, I had to undergo a hemipelvectomy amputation, meaning I lost my entire leg and part of my pelvis.
My surgery took place on my 30th birthday — a day that should have been a celebration, but instead became the day everything changed.
Since then, I’ve done everything I can to rebuild my life. I used to work full time as a Lifestyle Manager in a care home, supporting others every day — but had to resign because behind the scenes, daily life is a constant physical and emotional challenge.
I do have a prosthetic provided by the NHS, and I am truly grateful for it. However, NHS prosthetics are limited and, in many cases, outdated compared to what is available privately. The one I have is extremely difficult to use, uncomfortable, and doesn’t allow me to move in a natural or sustainable way.
Because of this, I often rely on a wheelchair — and over time, this has started to take a toll on my body. My spine is beginning to twist from sitting for long periods, and it’s becoming increasingly clear that being upright and using a more advanced prosthetic would be far better for my long-term health.
There is a privately funded prosthetic available that could genuinely change my life. It would allow me to stand, walk more naturally, reduce the strain on my body, and give me back a level of independence I’ve been missing for years.
More than anything, I just want a normal life — to walk, to move freely, and to not feel held back every single day.
The cost of this prosthetic, along with fittings and rehabilitation, is around £60,000, which is far beyond what I can afford on my own.
That’s why I’m asking for your help.
Every donation, no matter how small, brings me closer to walking again and improving my health and quality of life. And if you’re not able to donate, simply sharing this page would mean the world to me.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can give — it truly means everything!!!

once I’ve raised enough with these funds, I will be starting my journey with private prosthetics, and hopefully my Tik Tok will be monetised soon enough and every penny off there will go towards it as well xx
