With strong humility and a heart humbled by facing unexpected and overwhelming illness and medical bills, I’m asking for help to keep my husband in rehab.
- Gary’s
- Medicare advantage plan decided that their coverage had been exhausted after only 19 days in rehab. Gary is now on regular Medicare facing a 20% copay, including hospital, ICU and now $209 per day at rehab. Even at 20%, the bills are staggering.
Thank you for taking the time to read about Gary’s situation. Our family has been living through months of uncertainty, stress, and difficult decisions, and we are asking for help we never imagined we would need to.
What started as a medical concern rapidly escalated into a life-threatening situation wherein the rehab facility allowed him to become severely dehydrated with septic shock that landed him in the ICU. His fight through that was devastating — there were moments of real fear and uncertainty. After the ICU, he was transferred to a new rehabilitation center where he is working to regain strength, mobility, and stability. The journey has been long, painful, and exhausting, but Gary continues to fight with everything he has.
Unfortunately, the medical battle has also come with an overwhelming financial one. The ICU bill alone is enormous, and the ongoing rehab costs grow every day. Add to that the bills from his four prior hospital stays this year, and the financial weight has become impossible for our family to handle alone. Insurance has failed Gary.
We hope to o raise funds to help cover:
• The enormous ICU bill from his recent hospitalization
• Ongoing rehabilitation center expenses
• Medical treatments and therapies not fully covered
• Medications and follow-up care
• Specialist appointments
• Other essential recovery needs
Gary has fought through setback after setback, and yet he remains determined. If you know him, you know he’s someone who never asks for help. He’s strong, proud, generous and private — but this situation is different.
Your donation, no matter the amount, will directly support Gary’s care and give him the chance to focus on healing rather than worrying about insurmountable debt. If you are unable to donate, simply sharing this fundraiser helps more than you can imagine.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your compassion, kindness, and support. It means the world to us, and it gives Gary strength on days when everything feels overwhelming.
With gratitude,
Jada
